Editing Tips...

Thanks so much for helping Sherry with the upkeep of the website content...

I just had a few tips that might help you as you are editing...

  1. Use the Show preview button before you save the page to make sure that it looks the way you expect it to before saving the page, this helps to minimize the number of edits that you have to make.
  2. Use the Summary field to make a note of what you changes, this makes it easier for yourself and for others to understand what was changes.
  3. You can easily revert to a previous version of a page by first going to the pages history, then selecting the old version that you want. You can walk forward and backward through the pages history until you find the right version, the summary can help a lot with this. Once you are viewing an old version of a page that you wish to revert back to simply click the edit button, preview, and save that old version. You will see a notice that you are editing an old version during the preview which is alright if that was your intent.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I've done a little cleanup with the main page and site notice. You can see all the changes to all the pages at the via the Recent Changes link, which you can also subscribe to as an RSS feed. Remember to sign your replies on talk pages with the signature button or --~~~~. --Rjf 15:38, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

NewCars and New Cars

I noticed during the recent work you've been doing that a page named NewCars seems to have been "lost" in the mix. There is also a New Cars article which is linked to from the menu. Looking at the Recentchanges for early July 24th 2007 It appears that the NewCars article was created by mistake and then shortly after the correct New Cars article was created. I don't want to go and delete or redirect the NewCars article just in case there is some content there that you would like to save, so I'll let you take care of it. There are two ways to deal with that article.

  1. You can simply delete the NewCars article if it's not needed as I suspect it isn't.
  2. You could turn it into a redirect page, though since it wasn't ever really in use this probably isn't necessary.
    • Though if you did you would simply replace the content of NewCars with the text #Redirect [[New Cars]], which would send visitors to the correct page. This happens automatically if you ever move a page. So had you created NewCars and then realizing it's name was wrong and moved it to New Cars the original name would have been changed into a redirect page to the new name. --Rjf 14:18, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
