Tesla Cybertruck Production 2023

According to an exclusive Reuters report, Tesla is once again delaying the start of its Cybertruck production, an unnamed source familiar with the matter told the outlet.

As such, it turns out production of the Elon Musk-owned EV tech giant’s first electric pickup truck won’t see the light of day in 2022, contrary to Tesla’s earlier claims.

To be more specific, the source said that Tesla won’t begin limited production of the dark-looking electric utility truck until the first quarter of 2023, which is still a year away from today.

Tesla Cybertruck Production Is Delayed: Here’s Why

On top of that, the unnamed source also said that Tesla has decided to push production of its electric pickup truck to keep pace with its competitors.

Reuters noted in the same report that other U.S. automakers, such as Ford and Rivian, have also launched their electric trucks. And unlike Tesla, the two manufacturers already produce their electric pickups.

Indeed, Ford’s F-150 Lightning electric pickup doubles its annual production capacity for said vehicle.

That said, Tesla’s futuristic utility pickup needs to update some of its features and functionality to stand out from the crowd, the source said.

In turn, the EV tech giant had to delay production to make way for the major changes.

Meanwhile, according to Teslarati’s report, the Tesla CEO and founder is set to provide the product roadmap of Cybertruck’s production during his January 26 earnings call.

Removed Tesla Cybertruck production date

On January 5, the 2022 production date of the Tesla Cybertruck was removed from the tech giant’s official website.

Previously, the official booking site for the next EV pickup included a message that “production is approaching in 2022.”

However, at the beginning of the year, the notice could not be found on its website. Instead, it now says the Cybertruck will be delivered to customers “close to production.”

This time around, however, there is no longer an estimated date for its production.

But according to the latest report from Reuters, the production date of the Tesla pickup has been postponed to a later year. As such, that might explain why the estimate on his booking page has faded.
