Tesla Model S Plaid photos show the clearest look at the new interior to date

Recent photos of a spotted Model S Plaid parked on the streets of San Francisco reveal Tesla’s progress with its new flagship sedan.

Tesla owner @BlakeM in San Francisco shared some photos of Model S Plaid with Teslarati. The pictures give a clear picture of the now infamous Yoke steering wheel and the rear screen at the rear. He thinks the Plaid Model S is a test mule due to the condition of the interior.

Parts of the Model S were missing, which supported the idea that it was a test mule. There was a missing trim on the passenger side of the center console and a missing trim at the base of the “T” in the steering wheel fork.

He noticed a few diagnostic cables hanging from the Model S’s center console, where the phone usually sat. The Tesla owner also observed that the passenger side pillar panel had been partially removed, exposing the cables. He believes the pillar panel was removed for access to the cables, or just because the car could be a test mule.

BlakeM noted that the Model S had a “May” sticker next to the VIN on the back of the car, which could indicate how recently updated the car has been. According to the owner of Model 3 Performance, a Model S Plaid has been spotted in his neighborhood in the past two months, so it could have been produced earlier this year. He hasn’t observed any physical changes to the car over the past few months and believes all of the major updates Tesla has made were to the car’s hardware or software.

The vehicle’s side cameras were covered in black duct tape, but the Tesla owner was unsure whether it was covering the cameras or just camouflage. A tow hook is also visible on the front of the S Plaid model.

Despite the missing trim pieces on the interior, the photos still give a pretty good idea of what the interior of the new S-model would look like. The rear seats look spacious enough and the 8-inch rear window looks large enough to display. properly multimedia content. The trim around the rear screen can also help keep the screen from the occasional kicking of children sitting in the back.

A look at the front seats also hints at the ventilated seats in the new Model S. Coupled with Tesla’s already well-received seat design, the Model S Plaid ventilated seats will likely prove to be among the best seats on the market to date.

During the TSLA Q1 2021 earnings call, Elon Musk spoke about the challenges Tesla has faced in developing new versions of the Model S and Model X. Tesla hopes to begin deliveries of Model S Plaid and Refresh soon. Musk clarified that deliveries depended on Tesla’s ability to speed up the supply chain and internal production processes.
